Jalaram Bapa Jayanthi celebration on Sunday, November 3rd 2019

Hindu Temple and Cultural Center of South Carolina cordially invites you and your family for Jalaram Bapa Jayanthi celebration on Sunday, November 3rd from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Jalaram Bapa was a Hindu saint from Gujarat. Jalaram Bapa's birthday (Jalaram Jayanti) is celebrated on 7th day Shukla paksha of the Hindu month of Kartika. It falls on seventh day from Diwali. On this day, devotees are served meal as prasad.

The main shrine of Jalaram Bapa is located at Virpur. The shrine is actually the house complex where Jalaram lived during his lifetime. The shrine houses the belongings of Jalaram and the idols of Rama, Sita, Lakshamana and Hanuman worshipped by him. On Jalaram Jayanti, there is a huge fair and festival at Virpur on the occasion and millions of devotees visit Virpur, on this day to pay their respect to the saint and have prasad.

Tulasi Vivah on Saturday, November 9th 2019

Hindu Temple and Cultural Center of South Carolina cordially invites you and your family to celebrate Tulasi Vivah on Saturday, November 9th at 6:00 pm. Tulsi Vivah is the ceremonial marriage of the Tulsi plant (holy basil) to the Hindu god Vishnu or his Avatar Krishna. This ceremony is usually performed on the eleventh or the twelfth day of lunar calander. The Tulsi wedding signifies the end of the monsoon and the beginning of the Hindu wedding season.

• 6:30 pm - Tulasi Vivah (Marriage of Tulsi and Damodara)
• 7:00 pm - Aarti

Karthika Pournima on Tuesday, November 12th 2019

Hindu Temple and Cultural Center of South Carolina cordially invites you and your family to celebrate Karthika Pournima on Tuesday, November 12th at 6:00 pm. Karthika Pournima is celebrated on full moon day or 15th lunar day of Karthika. It is also known as Dev Diwali (festival of lights of Gods). During this festival, houses are decorated with oil lamps and colored designs on their front door.

Our priests will be performing Rudrabishekam for Lord Shiva on all 4 Monday's of Karthika month and sponsorship for Rudrabishekam for all 4 Monday's is $51.00. If you wish to sponser, please write you and your family name and gotra details to the Temple priests.

• 7:30 pm - Karthik Deep followed by Aarti
